Sight Seeing with Lori

Lori's Visit

Lori spent most of November 2002 with us. I think she had a good time. We sure enjoyed the visit. We
sent her off on her own a bit but she didn't seem to mind. We managed to go out and take a quick road
trip with her. We started in Te Anau and Fiordlands and then headed north along the west coast to see the
glaciers. After the glaciers we went across Lewis Pass on to Christchurch and then home.

The Pyramids

The Pyramids are on the Otago Peninsula.

Tunnel Beach

Tunnel Beach is a little south of Dunedin.

Rhododendron Dell

Rhododendron Dell is one of the trails off from the Pineapple Track.

Doubtful Sound

We did an over night cruise on Doubtful Sound in the Fiordlands. The cruise went out to the Tasmin Sea and then back to
a cove to drop anchor for the night. We saw dolphins, penguins and seals. It wasn't too rough out by the sea, but rough
enough to make Graham seasick. Beyond that he had a good time. He likes boats and loved seeing the dolphins. They put us
in the family room for the price of a quad cabin. Can't complain about that.

More pictures from the sound can be found here. There is a lot of them.

Wanaka

We spent the night in Wanaka on our way to the glaciers from Fiordlands.

A waterfall along the way

Franz Josef Glacier

We got up close and personal with the glacier. Well we tried. It was very windy and I was concerned about Graham so Scott
and I only went to the start of the glacier, then I made us go back. Lori had a good time on the glacier. We hope to get back
that way to see Fox Glacier at some point.

Pancake Rocks

After the glacier, we spent the night in Greymouth. In the morning we went to Punakaiki to see the Pancake Rocks.

More rocks here.

A train, a train

We managed to miss a turn in some little town, but the detour was worth it to see the Fairlie.

The view from Mt Cargill

The best way to see Dunedin.

Lori and Graham

Graham sure enjoyed having Lori around and not just because she brought presents. They had a good time playing together.
