Destination Imagination

by tami 2010-03-04 15:47:50

di team Saturday was the regional competition for Destination Imagination. The kids did a really good job and we are very proud of them. They placed 2nd in their challenge. Their performance went really well except they didn't check their robot before the performance and it didn't work correctly. Oh well. Live and learn.

Semester over!

My final was this morning. I am done. Woo hoo. Scott still has to grade so I guess his semester isn't over yet. Another month and Graham will be done and we can shut off the alarm clock.

First camp today...

Graham is at Camp Invention this week. He hasn't been to this camp before so we will see how he likes it. It will be a busy week. Camp until 3:30 and soccer at 5:30 and a piano lesson in there someplace. Thursday we go to see the Houston Dynamos play here at Whataburger Field. I haven't heard yet, but I expect we'll have sand soccer practice on Friday.

Sand everywhere.

Graham has been practicing sand soccer for the last month. He was in a tournament held here in Corpus over the weekend. Scott was helping to coach the team. They did about how I expected. Lost all 3 games. For the most part they were playing against older kids that have been playing together as a team for a while. Our kids didn't play as a team because they aren't a team. Even though they didn't win, they did a good job. Apart from the first game they played hard and that is what really matters.

Graham's soccer training is practicing at the beach all this week. I was hoping to get rid of the sand that is all over the house, but I guess I have to wait a few more days. Graham tracks it every where. He will shake out his sand socks in the living room. He asked me the other day to wash his sheets because there was sand in them. Hopefully after Thursday we will be sand free.

One iPod found.

Graham is a slob. I think he gets it from slobby parents. His room is always a mess. If he does manage to get it clean, it isn't long before it is a mess again. Last time he "cleaned" his room he lost his iPod. I remember him having it the last day of school (June 2nd) and by the next week, he couldn't find it. I was pretty sure that it was in his room someplace because we couldn't remember him taking it out of the house since the last time we saw it. Yesterday Graham found the iPod shoved under his bookshelf. I told him before to check in the bookshelf because the shelves where all a jumble and he could have easily set it there and then put something on top of it. Well apparently while "cleaning" he pushed a bunch of stuff under the bookshelf, the iPod included. I had actually pulled all of the stuff out from under his dresser looking for the iPod, but didn't make my way to the bookshelf. I guess we will start there next time. I am just glad he found the stupid thing. They aren't cheap.

Nothing going on

That is right, not much happening here obviously. Graham is doing well in 5th grade. His teacher is really nice. His first report card was good. He is playing soccer and just made the running club at school. So now I have to pick him up from school on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Scott is busy with work as usual. I am trying to finish up my graduate project. Don't know if I will make it this semester or not. It doesn't look good.
