Our Story So Far

Scott was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico and spent most of his childhood in Raton. Tami was born in Brigham City, Utah and spent her childhood in Bear River City. Scott and Tami met at Utah State University while they were there studying computer science. They first noticed each other at an ACM meeting. Scott was involved with the student chapter somehow. Tami attended the meeting with a friend. It was at the end of spring quarter, but they managed to remember each other and hooked up when they returned to school the next fall.

After graduation, Tami accepted a job in Forth Worth, Texas. Scott decided to follow Tami there. A couple months after he arrived, they were married. A month before they got married they extended the family by one when they got a Shetland Sheepdog puppy. They named her Myshka. A year and a half later, they added on to the family again with a German Shepherd puppy. Her name was Strazha.

After a while, Scott decided that he needed more schooling. He was accepted at The Ohio State University where he was to study computer graphics. This time Tami followed him. The dogs came later after they bought a house. First Scott received a Masters degree and then after what seemed an eternity he finished his PhD. All in all, they lived a little over 9 years in Columbus, Ohio.

Beside an education and a house many wonderful things happened to them in Ohio. They had great friends and good times. They liked traveling and managed to take a couple of trips. Their biggest was going Antarctica. They developed their love of cycling. The best thing that happened to them was Graham. He arrived in June 2000 and he wasn't a puppy.

After finishing school, Scott wanted to live someplace new for a while. After much debate and a job offer, Tami and Scott decided that New Zealand would be cool. In December 2001, they sold their house (well, they thought that they had) and loaded all of their worldly possessions in a Ryder rental truck and drove to Utah where they put it in storage (via Denver where they dropped off a bunch of stuff for Scott's family). In January 2002 with their "necessary" possessions loaded into six bags, they boarded a plane and left for an adventure. Scott had accepted an offer to teach for 18 months for the Computer Science Department at the University of Otago located on the South Island in the city of Dunedin. Read more about their adventures in New Zealand here.

Two and a half years later in July 2004, they returned to the US. They decided that being closer to family was important and they wanted Graham to know his grandparents. Shortly after arriving in the US, Scott accepted a job as an assistant professor in the Computing and Mathematical Sciences Department at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. In August he left for Corpus Christi. Graham and Tami followed in October after spending some time at Tami's parents. In November they moved to their new house.

Graham

Graham came into the world 5 weeks early on Monday, June 19, 2000 at 1:33 a.m. He weighed 5 pounds 3.2 ounces and was 19 inches long. He spent the first 2 weeks of his life in the NICU at the OSU Medical Center. They took very good care of him there and Mom and Dad were grateful. They were able to take him home on July 3, 2000. Their lives will never be the same.

Scott

Scott grew up in Raton, New Mexico at 6666 feet, much higher than Denver, Colorado (the mile high city). Since New Mexico, He has lived in Logan, Utah, Fort Worth, Texas, Columbus, Ohio, and Dunedin, New Zealand. Currently he is living in Corpus Christi, Texas where he is a assistant professor at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi in the Department of Computing Sciences. Information about his work can be found here.

Tami
